With Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull opening tomorrow, I became very nostaglic about my second favorite movie of all time, Raiders Of The Lost Ark. When it came out in 1981, I couldn't get enough of it. So when Marvel's adaptation of the movie came out cover dated September, 1981, it was a no brainer to pick up. I wasn't disappointed. Written by Walter Simonson and drawn by John Buscema (breakdowns) and Klaus Jansen (finishes and inks), the comic did a very good job adapting the movie, which was basically a two hour comic book anyway. It was a shame that Marvel's Indy series a couple of years later didn't last longer. Fortunately, Dark Horse has done a fine job with the franchise in recent years. Hopefully the success of Crystal Skull will lead to a long four color life for our favorite archeologist!
